Donovan Popps

VP of Engineering

Donovan Popps has 20 years of design, field applications and management experience in the electronics industry. Donovan began his career designing Fast Static RAM circuits and semiconductors for Motorola’s FSRAM division. He then migrated into the low-power, embedded microprocessor domain at Motorola where worked on next generation low-power modules in multimedia application SoC’s. In early 2000, Donovan joined a start-up where he developed scalable DSP Design Intellectual Property (IP). In early 2002, Donovan joined Denali Software where the he and a small team designed market leading configurable, high performance Design IP DDR Memory Controllers. At Denali, he worked in Design, Field Applications, Design Management and eventually leading the R&D organization. Under his leadership, the group quickly transitioned from shrinking market share and negative margin to a highly profitable growing business eventually acquired by Cadence Design Systems. Today, Donovan is back in the trenches at Ambiq Micro helping bring an industry changing low power technology to market with ultra low power MCU’s.
